The UbuntuNet Alliance, representing NRENs from 16 African countries, has signed agreements with Redington Gulf for AWS services and professional support. These countries include Burundi, Botswana, the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), Ethiopia, Kenya, Madagascar, Malawi, Mozambique, Rwanda, Somalia, Sudan, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. The network of NRENs represents over 1,000 universities and research institutions and over 3.48 million students and educators. The partnership seeks to replicate successful frameworks seen in the US and Europe.

Contracting and Procurement:
- Redington will sell AWS services through NRENs or appointed AWS partners.
- Institutions must follow their procurement policies or public procurement laws, depending on their type.
- NRENs can also act as distribution resellers
Engagement and Term:
- Institutions can engage by contacting Redington.
- The agreements last four years, with a possibility to renegotiate terms after two years.
